Wednesday September 19, 2007 - 2400 Block of Lindsay Street

Shorty after 1600hrs Company 82, Squrt 81, Chester-11 and Medic 45-7 were dispatched to the 2400 Block of Lindsay Street for a dwelling fire.  While en-route Squrt 81 was diverted to an MVA with a fuel spill on East 9th Street for company 82.  Chester 17 arrived first and reported smoke showing side 1 and all occupants out . Chester-11 then arrived and confirmed a working bedroom fire.  82-1 dropped a supply line and pulled the 1 3/4 hand line to the door while Tower 82's crew was giving the assignment to open up.  The interior crew entered the building with the engine crew and the exterior crew opening up from the outside.  While on the roof of the front porch venting the windows one firefighter partially fell through. The firefighter was pulled out of the hole by his partner and treated by EMS.  Squirt 81 arrived and their crew entered to assist 82's. The fire was confined to the front bedroom with smoke damage to the entire second floor and water damage to the entire home.  Investigation of the fire is being handled by Chester 17.  Crews were clear by 1800hrs and the injured firefighter was treated and released.

Tuesday September 18, 2007 - West 9th Street @ Ward Street

At 1408hrs Company 81, Tower 82, Chester-11, and the medics were dispatched to 9th and Ward Streets for a MVA with entrapment. Chester-11 arrived on location and reported negative entrapment. Squrt 81 proceeded in and assisted with scene control and patient packaging.  One person was transported to CCMC.

Saturday September 15, 2007 - 2700 Block of West 7th Street

At 0600hrs the companies were dispatched to the 2700 block of West 7th Street for a dwelling fire.  Chester 11 arrived and found a 2 story middle of the row with fire in the rear.  Squirt 81 pulled a 1 3/4 hand-line into the kitchen to knock down the fire while 82's crew opened up the walls and roof.  The fire appears to have started in a BBQ grill located outside the rear of the structure. The fire was under control in 20 minutes with companies clearing at 0715hrs.

                                                 - 291 @ Highland Avenue

At 0300hrs Squrt 81, Tower 82, Chester-11, and the Medics wdispatched to 291 and Highland Ave for an MVA with entrapment.  Chester 11 arrived to find a 2 car MVA with confirmed entrapment in one vehicle.  Tower 82 arrived and used the rescue tools to remove the drivers side front door to free the trapped occupant.  Crews from the Squirt and Tower assisted EMS with patient care and packaging before clearing the scene.

Monday September 3, 2007 - 100 Block of Worrell Street

At 1645hrs Company 82 and Chester 11 were dispatched to the 100 block of Worrell Street for a building fire. The police arrived on location first and reported a garage fully involved with exposure to a second garage. 82-1 used an 1 3/4 hand line while the tower's crew checked the exposure. Squrt 81 also responded after clearing from a tripped fire alarm, and assisted with checking for hot spots.

Friday August 24, 2007 - 2700 Block of North Forward Street

At approximately 2249hrs Squrt 81, Tower 82, Chester-11, and CCMC Medics were dispatched to 2700 Block of North Forward Street for an MVA.  Upon arrival Chester-11 reported a one vehicle MVA into a fire hydrant and a fence.  Occupants were gone on arrival.

Saturday August 25, 2007 - I-95 South in the area of Kerlin Street

At 2022hrs Company 81, Tower 82, Chester-11, and CCMC Medics were dispatched to I-95 in the area of Kerlin Street for a MVA. Upon arrival Chester-11 reported a two vehicle accident with one into the highway divider. Medic 100 proceeded south to check the well being of the occupants of the second vehicle and reported no injuries but the vehicle was on fire.  Squrt 81 proceeded to the car fire while 82-1 assisted the medics with the injured occupant of the first vehicle.  One person was transported to CCMC.

Sunday August 26, 2007 - 300 Block of East 7th Street - 2 Alarms

At approximately 2157hrs the companies were dispatched to the 300 block of East 7th Street for a building fire called in by the police.  Upon arrival Company 82 reported heavy fire front to back from a two and a half story end of the row.  82 command soon reported extension into the two exposures.  Master streams were set up and Chester-11 called for the second alarm.  The fire was placed under control at 2346hrs.

 Monday August 27, 2007 - I- 95 South Ramp to Commodore Barry Bridge

 At Approximately 1200hrs Squrt 81, Tower 82, Chester-11, Medic 83-7, and Medic 100 were dispatched to I-95 south in the area of the Commodore Barry Bridge for an MVA. Upon Arrival the company found a two vehicle accident a box truck vs a pickup pulling a horse trailer.  One subject was transported to CCMC and the horse "Wild Games" had a small cut over his left eye.  He was being transported from the New Bolton Center back to Mammoth Park were he is in training for the Breeders Cup.

                                            - I-95 South of Kerlin Street

At 0741hrs Squrt 81, Tower 82, Medics 100-7, 100, 81-7 and Chester-11 were dispatched to I-95 just south of Kerlin Street for an MVA with entrapment.  Upon their arrival they found a three vehicle accident with 2 vehicles overturned.  There was no entrapment and one person was transported to CCMC.  Companies remained on location for about 30 minutes to assist with hazard control and traffic.

Friday August 16, 2007 - Kerlin Street @ Interstate 95 South On-ramp 

Shortly after 22:00hrs, companies were dispatched for an MVA.  Chester 11 arrived on the scene with a two vehicle accident, one subject trapped.  After removing the roof the victim was extricated and transported by Medic 83-7 to CCMC.

Saturday August 11, 2007 - 400 Block of East 10th Street

At approximately 1100 hrs the companies were dispatched to the 400 Block of East 10th Street for a building fire.  Chester 11 arrived on location to find a previously burned two story twin vacant with fire showing from the basement and walls as well as heavy fire in the rear. The companies went into a defensive operation using two deck guns and two 13/4 hand-lines. The companies remained in service for about 4 hours before going available.

                                           - 11 Park Valley Lane - Parkside Borough

At approximately 0230hrs 82-1 was dispatched to assist Company 45 on a building fire at 11 Park Valley Lane with several firefighters trapped after the second floor came down on top of them. When Engine 82 arrived on location they assisted with fire suppression and overhaul. For more on the story and the condition of the firefighters visit Company 45's site at http://parkside45.com/

Monday August 06, 2007 - Rt 291 & Thurlow St

 At 1215hrs companies were dispatched for an MVA w/entrapment.  Subject was reported to be pinned underneath the vehicle.  Chester 11 arrived on scene with a one vehicle accident. The vehicle jumped the curb, crashed into the building, and caused substantial structural damage.  One person was injured, he was sitting on the front step of the building that was struck by the vehicle, but was not pinned underneath.  Subject was transported to CCMC in serious condition.

 Sunday August 5, 2007 - 22nd & Wetherill Streets

Company 82, Chester 11, and CCMC EMS were dispatched to 22nd and Wetherill Streets for an MVA with possible entrapment. While en-route fire board advised the responding units that one car did have entrapment. As Company 82 and Chester 11 arrived the reports of entrapment were confirmed and the tower went in-service with the spreaders to remove the door. The units operated on scene for just under 45 minutes. Several people were transported to CCMC.

Friday August 3, 2007 - 9th & Kerlin Streets

At 1815hrs, Company 81, Tower 82, Chester-11, and CCMC Medics were dispatched to 9th and Kerlin Streets for an accident with possible entrapment.  Chester-11 arrived first and found a 2 car MVA with the drivers still in the vehicles. The patient in the first vehicle was able to get out on their own while Tower 82 put the rescue tools in service to remove the B post on the second car.  Once this was completed the crews assisted EMS with patient packaging.  81-7, 82-7, and 83-7 transported three to CCMC.

Thursday August 2, 2007 - I-95 South @ Chestnut Street

1705hrs: Company 82, Chester-11, Medic 837, and 100 were dispatched to I-95 south bound for a MVA with injuries.  Upon responding the nature was upgraded to possible ejection and/or entrapment.  Chester-11 arrived on location and reported the accident to be in the north bound lanes and to have the units use the Chestnut Street on ramp for best access. Chester-11 and Medic 100 arrived to find a one vehicle accident with negative ejection or entrapment.  Company 82 handled the hazards, assisted PSP with traffic control, and the medics got a refusal.  Companies were in service approximately 30 minutes.

                                               - 2605 Kane Street

1422hrs: Companies 81, 82, Chester-11, and Medic 81-7 were dispatched to 2605 Kane Street for smoke coming from the building.  Chester-11 arrived with smoke showing from the exterior. Squrt 81 went in-service with an 13/4 hand-line and quickly knocked down a kitchen fire, Tower 82's crew performed the primary search and ventilated the building while Engine 82 staged at the hydrant and assisted with overhaul.  Fire was held to kitchen and is under investigation by CPD.  Companies were in service approximately 45 minutes.

Wednesday August 1, 2007 - 324 Norris Street

At 1050hrs a civilian ran into Station 81 and reported his house was on fire.  Chester-11 was in the station and notified fire board he was responding with Company 81 and to fill out the box he had heavy smoke in the air.  He arrived on location and found a three story twin with heavy smoke showing from the second and third floors.  Engine 82-2 arrived on location first (on radio for fuel) and went in service with a 13/4 hand line. Squrt 81 conducted a primary search and ventilated the structure.  The companies quickly extinguished a working bedroom fire and the job was placed under control.  Two firefighters were transported to CCMC and were treated and released.
