February 16, 2008 - 9th & Palmer Streets

At approximately 04:00 hrs Engine 83, Tower 82, Chester-11, and CCMC EMS were dispatched to 9th and Palmer for a MVA.  Chester 11 arrived on location and reported a SUV into two PECO poles.  Two were transported to CCMC and the engine stood by while PECO pulled the breakers so the tow truck could remove the vehicle.

February 13, 2008 - 1024 West 7th Street - Fatality

At 15:56 hrs the companies were dispatched to 1024 West 7th Street for a building fire with entrapment.  Chester-11 arrived on location and reported fire showing from the second floor.  Engine 83 led off and advanced two 1 3/4 hand lines, Tower 82 conducted a primary search, and Engine 82 threw up ground ladders and vented.  One occupant was located and transported to CCMC by Medic 81-7 where he later passed away.  Companies remained on location until 17:54 hrs.

February 10, 2008 - Concord Ave & Lamokin Street

At 22:47 hrs Engine 83, Tower 82, Chester-11, and CCMC EMS went to the 1100 block of Concord Ave for a MVA. On arrival Chester-11 reported a one vehicle accident with no occupant. After doing a quick scene assessment the crews found approx 6 bullet holes in the rear of the car. Engine 83 remained on location approximately 3 hours while the police investigated.  The tower was later called back to the scene to cut the guard rail to remove the car.

                                 - 719 West 5th Street - 2 Alarms

At 08:42 hrs the companies were dispatched to 719 West 5th Street for a building fire.  Chester-11 arrived on location to find heavy fire showing from the second floor rear of a 2 1/2 story twin with heavy smoke showing from the second floor of the attached home.  83-1 went in service with an 1 3/4 hand line while 82-1 reversed out to the hydrant and pulled a back up line.  When the second alarm companies arrived the second floor of the exposure was opened up and a third attack line was placed in service for extension.  Companies remained in service until 11:47 hrs.

February 9, 2008 - 714 East 9th Street

At 02:13 hrs the companies were dispatched to the area of 9th and McDowell for a working building fire.  Chester-11 arrived on location and reported a two story middle of the row with heavy fire showing first floor side one. Company 82 advanced two 13/4 hand lines into the building and Engine 83 vented the second floor and completed the primary search.  Companies remained on location until 04:40 hrs.

February 5, 2008 - 342 East Seventh Street

At 01:51 hrs the companies were dispatched to 7th and Upland Streets for a building fire.  On arrival it was reported to be a 21/2 story vacant with heavy fire showing first and second floor rear.  Fire quickly extended to the roof so master streams were put in service.  Companies remained on location until 04:33 hrs.

February 2, 2008 - 2402 West Third Street

At 19:43 hrs. the companies were dispatched to the area of Third and Palmer Streets for a building fire.  Upon arrival Chester-11 reported a garage fully involved.  83-1 dropped a 5" supply line and led off with an 13/4 hand-line.  Companies remained on location until 22:30 hrs.

                               - 75 West 9th Street - 2 Alarms

At approximately 03:45 hrs the companies were dispatched 75 West 9th Street Liberty Kenworth for a fire alarm.  Company 82 arrived on location with nothing showing.  While checking the exterior of the building they noticed a working fire in the shop area.  Crews began to force entry and stretch hand-lines while Chester-11 called for the second alarm.  Crews remained on location until approximately 09:00 hrs.

 

January 30, 2008 - I-95 North

At 10:30 hrs Engine 83, Tower 82, Chester-11, and CCMC EMS were dispatched to I-95 North just north of Highland Avenue for an MVA.  Medic 81-7 arrived on location and reported one minor injury.  83-1 stood by and the medics transported to one to CCMC.

January 29, 2008 - 328 Rose Street

At 15:20 hrs the companies were dispatched to 328 Rose Street for a building fire with entrapment.  Chester-11 arrived on location to find a three story twin with fire showing 2nd floor side 2, negative entrapment.  82-1 dropped a 5" supply line and lead off with an 13/4 hand-line.  The fire was placed under control by the first twenty minute mark and crews remained on location for approximately an hour and a half for extensive overhaul.  One occupant was transported to CCMC for smoke inhalation and burns.

January 24, 2008 - 327 East 12th Street

At 14:55 hrs the companies were dispatched to 327 East 12th Street for a building fire.  Chester-17 went on location with a two story twin with heavy fire showing 1st floor side 1.  82-1 dropped a 5" supply line and went in service with a 13/4 hand-line.  Tower 82 searched and ventilated the fire building while 83-1 opened and searched the exposure.  Companies remained in service for approximately two hours.

January 23, 2008 - Route 291 & Upland Street

At approximately 12:40 hrs Company 82, Medic 100-7, and Chester 11 were dispatched to route 291 and Upland for a MVA. Chester 11 arrived and found a 1 vehicle accident into a fire hydrant with no entrapment.  82-1 assisted the CPD with traffic control and waited for CWA to  remove the damaged hydrant from the street. Occupants refused treatment.

January 21, 2008 - 12th & Butler Streets

At approximately 12:00 hrs Engine 83, Tower 82, Chester-11, and CCMC EMS were dispatched to 12th and Kerlin Streets for an MVA possibly on fire.  Engine 83 arrived on location to find a one vehicle MVA at 12th and Butler into the guard rail with negative fire.  Crews secured the hazards and assisted EMS with patient packaging.  One transported to CCMC with minor injuries.  Companies were available in approximately 20 minutes.

 

January 2, 2008 - 424 Penn Street

Around 15:30 hrs the companies were dispatched for a dwelling fire at 424 Penn Street.  Chester 11 was advised that the resident may still be inside attempting to put out the fire and that 426 was reporting smoke in their home.  Chester 17 arrived on location and reported nothing showing but that report was quickly updated by Chester 11 who reported he had a smoke condition on the first floor with a kitchen fire.  Tower 82 arrived first and pulled a line, while 82 picked up the hydrant to supply them.  Squrt 81 and Engine 83 assisted with overhaul and ventilated the buildings prior to picking up.  Companies were in service approximately one hour.

                            - 22nd & Edgemont Ave

At approximately 15:00hrs Company 82, Chester-11, and CCMC EMS were dispatched to 22nd and Edgemont for an MVA.  Chester-11 arrived on location to find a two vehicle accident with injuries.  Crews secured the hazards and assisted the medics with patient care.
