2024 St. Florian Fund Winners
05/29/24 - IAFF Local 42 The St. Florian Scholarship Fund Committee met this year to determine the number of scholarships that we would be able to award based upon the performance of our investments. It was determined that we would be able to provide seven (7) St. Florian Scholarships in the amount of $1000.00 and a special scholarship in the name of KCFD Battalion Chief John Tvedten in the amount of $2000.00. |

MDA Boot Camp

A few of your Independence Firefighters attended the MDA Boot Camp this past Tuesday! It was great to learn about all of the new research and progress that the MDA is making for so many with Muscular Dystrophy, ALS, and various other neuromuscular diseases. Last year, we raised close to $8,000 for this cause, and this year our goal is to double that. |

05/09/24 - PPFFA “On behalf of the Pennsylvania Professional Firefighters Association (PPFFA) and our 7,000 members, we applaud the passage of House Bill 1632. This legislation, sponsored by Representative Jennifer O’Mara, establishes a standard for First Responders to be entitled to worker’s compensation benefits due to Post-Traumatic Stress Injuries (PTSI). PPFFA understands firsthand the mental and emotional toll of this line of duty. An estimated 30% of first responders develop behavioral health conditions, including depression and PTSI. Sadly, more first responders die from suicide than in the line of duty. Twin Cities Boxing Charity Event

YWCA Saint Paul has a long history of doing good for the community. They have four pillars: housing, employment, health / wellness and youth. Since the pandemic they’ve lost most of their funding to maintain youth programming. |
